RISK REDUCTION FOR AGRICULTURALIST

During British rule in India, the English were much particular about land revenue only. They never bothered about the farmers.  The entrusted and appointed Zamindar for the collection of agricultural levy and Zamindar entrusted the job with local Brahmins. The Brahmins in the villages sincerely collected levy and submitted it to Zamnins / British people. They too do not bother about the problems faced by the FARMERS.

After Independence the hold of Zamins / Brahmins over the collection of levy slowly discouraged. Successive Governments and general public feared to become a stake holders in agriculture industry.

Of all the professionals, farmers are facing HIGH RISK in the form of weather.  NO body could come to his rescue at the time of calamity.  No scientist will give opt solution for risk reduction.  Nor no organisation [either political or social]will fight for them. Because FARMERS are dis organised. [I am NOT using the word unorganised but disorganised because farmers themselves are divided on many factors from [1] Land Holding [2] Crop Cultivation [3] Irrigation method [5] Marketing of produce etc)
While fisherman in KUDANKULAM are united and can fight against DAE or Government [24.11.2011:Today is the hundredth day of agitation] in stopping KKNPP, the poor FARMERS who are facing thousand times more risk over their livelihood are silent mute.

[1] All agricultural operations need to be centralized.  Depending upon the land holding shares and based on that dividend will be issued to all stake holders.

[2] Land less farm laborers will be given wages. Like other Government employees the land less laborers are eligible for concession of food.  Cooked food at subsidized rate will be made available in each village through community kitchens.

[3] Corporate Giants will be made committed in marketing the produce.

[4] Agricultural operations will be mechanized as far as possible

[5] The work and service contributed / rendered by the land owners, laborer and service rendered by other in relation to agriculture will adequately be paid by Government. [After all the produce is going to Government only]

[6] This is a collective effort by both Government and FARMERS.
